Close enough for a day trip or stay in the area’s graceful hotels and quaint townships to make the most of the active pursuits. We love this area and the mountains have been a popular spot for walkers, climbers and outdoor types for 100 years so get active and try a spot of mountain biking, abseiling or caving.
Bushwalks abound in the region and are an excellent way to take in the natural attractions, with trails to suit all ages and levels of experience. Along the way are chances to appreciate the area’s natural beauty and Aboriginal heritage. Or for those wanting more of a challenge, take part in the Six Foot Track Marathon and test yourself on the 45 km trail stretching across the Blue Mountains.
We always recommend the Scenic Skyway as one of the most stunning ways to view the Panoramas of the wilderness, waterfalls, valleys and rugged sandstone tablelands. Suspended 270 metres above ancient ravines, the Skyway provides a unique thrill as breathtaking views are revealed beneath your feet through the electro-glass cabin floor. With 360° views, the 720 metre journey provides the best views of Katoomba Falls, the Three Sisters, and Jamison Valley stretching to the horizon.
The spectacular scenery of the Blue Mountains surrounds the historic town of Katoomba. Scenic and secluded, Katoomba offers a change of pace to life in the city - giving you an opportunity to relax, unwind and recharge. A great place to base yourself while you can explore the rest of the Blue Mountains region.
